What if the future of AI in Africa was shaped by the very women who understand its potential and challenges best?
What if we didn’t just witness the evolution of AI but actively built a gender-inclusive ecosystem that defines its trajectory?
These are the questions that led to the birth of the African School of AI, an initiative designed to empower African women leaders in AI, equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and networks to drive meaningful change.
The African School of AI is more than just a training program, we have curated it as a movement too. Rooted in the belief that technology should reflect the diversity of the world it serves, this initiative is dedicated to building a pipeline of women AI leaders who include; organizers, speakers, builders, and researchers, all who will champion the creation of ethical, inclusive, and impactful AI solutions. This school was not born in isolation. It is an extension of critical conversations that took place during the Gendering AI Conference, where experts, researchers, and advocates highlighted the urgent need for more representation in AI. The school feeds directly from these discussions, transforming dialogue into action.
